What is a Lap Band?

To change the size of the band is a simple procedure. The inner surface of the band can be inflated or deflated with saline solution. The band is connected by tubing to a reservoir, which is put under the skin with surgery. When this procedure is finished, the person performing can control the amount of saline in the band by entering the reservoir with a fin needle through the skin.
This is a surgical procedure and does have risks. There is no guarantee that this procedure will work for everyone and there may be complications due to the surgery.
